Author's Note: This is my conflict/resolution piece on the book Last Shot by John Feinstein.
Stevie and Susan Carol, two high school students win a writing contest; therefore winning a trip to the Final Four. Minnesota St. is the surprise team in the Final Four. After an impressive performance from their star player Chip, they are in the final game of March Madness. Stevie and Susan Carol, trying to interview Chip after the game. find out some interesting information in the locker room. Someone has blackmailed Chip. If Chip, the star of MSU and son of the head coach, dosen't blow the game his dad would lose his job; also losing all of their wins that season too. Susan Carol and Stevie, trying to figure out the blackmailer, turn to the wrong person for help, which leads to the main conflict of them getting kidnapped.
Chip is told that if he doesn't blow the game then Susan Carol and Stevie will not be let go. Chip, knowing ahead of time that this would occur, contacted some of his high school friends to get Susan Carol and Stevie out of hiding. Amazing, they escape and go to the floor level to show Chip that they are okay. As Chip see the two high schoolers have escaped, he walks down the court. With the time expiring, Chip hits the game winning three to push his team to victory.
