Author's Note: This is my Patriots Pen essay. It tells what I would say to the Founding Fathers.
Why were the Founding Fathers so great? Was it the writing
of the signing and creating of the Constitution? Was it the Declaration of
Independence to become free from the British? Either way, they made this county
the way it is today, free and happy. Without the Founding Fathers, I don’t know
where this country would be today.
If you ever met the Founding Fathers, what would you say to them? There are two ways to look at this, and in my mind, they are both good reasons. You could thank them for standing up for our country, or you could say nothing at all. Whichever you choose, you can’t look past the fact that they did so much for the way we live today. We are free today, and that was because of the Declaration of Independence was written to prove ourselves as a separate country from Great Britain. These 11 men helped save this country then, and they helped now. The point is they weren’t just thinking about the then and now, but the future, and I appreciate that.
Although thanking them is good, I would almost feel guilty for not doing more for them, since they are the reason I am free and maybe even living today. I would want to show them how much they helped, how much they changed life as we know it. We wouldn’t be free from Great Britian if not for these guys. I would want to show them the United States now and how people can be happy and free here. I always wished they could see this. The constitution was written to make laws so we could be happy and free but keep us safe, and that has happened for the most part.
The Founding Fathers made this country happy and proud to live here. Without them, this country wouldn’t be the same. If I could live back in the time where the Founding Fathers were still alive, I would want to thank them because I know what the future is like, and I’ve experienced this world today, and it makes me feel safe. The question is, what do you think of the Founding Fathers?
